The American Association of University Women (or abbreviated “AAUW” as noted in this article)’s histories in being the nation’s catalyst of equity and education promotion to women and girls can be tracked back to the 1881 year, when it held its first meeting.

Until now, AAUW doesn’t merely stop in examining and taking stands of daily fundamental issues, such as educational, social, economic, or political. Rather, it has spread its wings until it now has more than 170,000 members and supporters in the U.S., 1,000 local branches, and more than 800 university and college partners. These entire milestones enable AAUW to hold more educationally enriching programmes, such as the bursary programme as described in this article.

The AAUW organisation has disbursed bursary funds to non-U.S. citizens or Permanent Resident women since its inception in 1917. AAUW’s bursary programme scheme’s extended name is known as AAUW’s International Fellowship, which is originally targeted at Latin American women.
