MISA (Municipal Infrastructure Support Agent) Profile
MISA is an establishment that is developed under the supervision of the Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs. Pertaining to the legal terms mentioned in Section 7(s) (c) Schedule 3 of the Public Service Act of 1994 (as amended), MISA also aims to promote the development of municipalities through various efforts, especially within the infrastructure department.) As a national government establishment, there are lot of responsibilities held by the group. As the country is advancing, it is important to remember that development is also required not just in big cities, but in rural areas as well. Through the values of sustainability and support, MISA is doing what they can to provide assistance towards the nation.

About MISA (Municipal Infrastructure Support Agent) – Technical Bursaries 2020-2021
The Municipal Infrastructure Support Agent (MISA) is offering Technical Bursaries to students who are interested in the field of Built Environment in South Africa. MISA is opening doors for young individuals who are keen on today’s Built Environment department. By taking part in the MISA Bursary, young folks will be provided with the opportunity to expose themselves to the workings of the Local Government. This bursary is specifically allocated for South African students who wish to pursue a career as technical professions. To apply for the MISA Bursary, candidates will need to pursue one of these mentioned study courses below:

  • Bachelor of Construction: Construction Management
  • Bachelor of Science: Environmental Management
  • Bachelor of Science : Engineering in Civil Engineering
  • Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning
  • Bachelor of Science : Engineering in Electrical Engineering.

MISA (Municipal Infrastructure Support Agent) – Technical Bursary Requirements
The MISA Technical Bursary is open towards students who are able to meet the eligibility criteria that has been standardized by the bursary committee. Each of these items below will play a crucial role in determining whether you will be accepted by the committee or not. Therefore, in order to guarantee success with your application procedure, it is highly recommended that you meet all of these qualifications below.

The MISA Technical Bursary Requirements are:

  • Must be officially recognized as a citizen of South Africa
  • Planning to pursue an academic qualification in the field of Built Environment
  • Must be able to meet all of the relevant standards that are to do with their chosen course of their academic studies
  • Must attain Matric Certificates/finishing their Matric with at least a C Symbol in the key subjects of Mathematics and Physical Science (with valid proof of their Matric Certificate/Midyear Grade 12 Results Slip)
  • Letter of acceptance issued by an accredited South African Institution of Higher Learning
  • Must have already been eligible for enrollment in any relevant higher education institution
  • Displays need for financial assistance: has a yearly gross family household income not exceeding ZAR 120 000.00
  • Preference will be provided towards candidates who originate from Previously Disadvantaged Communities
  • Must be willing to sign a commitment which bears them the responsibility of being employed by the South African local government sector, or partake as either a candidate or experiential learner, for a total period of 24 months (MISA Bursars for two or more years), or a total period of 12 months (MISA Bursars for less that two years.)
  • Recipients of the MISA Bursary will be entitled to several benefits, such as coverage for registration fees, tuition expenses, daily meals, accommodation, and prescribed study materials.

How to Apply MISA (Municipal Infrastructure Support Agent) – Technical Bursary 2020-2021
To apply for the MISA Technical Bursary, all interested candidates must download the Official Application Form. After you have obtained the application form, be sure to fill it in with complete and accurate information. Candidates discovered to be providing false information, or leave any parts of their forms blank, will automatically be disqualified from the application procedure.

After your application form has been filled in, candidates will also need to have several documentation attached to their application dossiers. These supporting documents include:

  • A valid copy of the candidate’s Identity Document
  • Valid copies of their Grade 12 certificates or Midyear Grade 12 results slip
  • Valid proof of their parents’ household income (in the form of payslips)
  • Valid affidavits (if the candidates’ parents are unemployed)
