This commitment of the Department of Social Development is then manifested in different forms, including partnerships with several world-renowned NGOs and human services that are meant to reduce poverty rates in South Africa.<\/p>\n<p>As far as the Department of Social Development&#8217;s concern for empowering poor, vulnerable, and excluded people in the South African community goes, this department that changed its name in 2000 held several socially-responsible programmes that enable those people to freely share and exchange their knowledge and expertises as they graduate from the university. One of them is the BSW Scholarship programme, which will be discussed further in this article.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Department of Social Development&#8217;s Scholarship Programme&#8217;s Schemes and Requirements<\/strong><br \/>\nAs this article&#8217;s title suggests, the Department of Social Development&#8217;s scholarship programme is abbreviated as &#8220;BSW&#8221; or &#8220;Bachelor of Social Work&#8221; in its longer form, which means this scholarship is only for those who are current or future students in the Bachelor of Social Work degree programme.<\/p>\n<p>As a result, those who want to change their major to non-BSW should drop out or de-register, and won&#8217;t be eligible for the Department of Social Development&#8217;s BSW Scholarship benefits. The benefits itself includes fully-funded registration, tuition, books, on- and off-campus accommodations as agreed with the university or privately-owned accommodations, and meals-related fees, as well as monthly allowances and opportunities to undertake practical work experiences.<\/p>\n<p>There are no age limitations on this scholarship programme. However, according to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dsd.gov.za\/index.php?option=com_docman&amp;task=cat_view&amp;gid=71&amp;Itemid=39\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">the main scholarship portal<\/a>, 18 to 35 years old applicants will be given first priorities to enhance young people&#8217;s capacity of working in the Social Work environment&#8217;s field. In addition to the age limit, these following requirements should be met in order to apply for the Department of Social Development&#8217;s scholarship programme:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Be Grade 12 graduates who are currently studying the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) degree in any of South African&#8217;s universities with significant academic progress as considered by the university.<\/li>\n<li>Come from disadvantaged backgrounds, demonstrate significant financial needs, or NGO or Social Auxiliary, Child and Youth Care workers or community development practitioners who want to study BSW degree.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In addition to meeting those aforementioned requirements, applicants should also support their application with these following certified copies:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Applicants&#8217; and their families&#8217; (including guardians&#8217; and\/or caregivers&#8217;, if any) ID cards.<\/li>\n<li>Grade 12 and the most recent academic transcripts.<\/li>\n<li>University&#8217;s letters of acceptance (for current BSW students starting from the second year).<\/li>\n<li>Proofs of income resources for the last 3 months in these following forms:\n<ul>\n<li>Proofs of the last 3 months&#8217; residences.<\/li>\n<li>Parents&#8217;, legal guardians&#8217;, or caregivers&#8217; most recent salary advices.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Application Processes of the Department of Social Development&#8217;s Scholarship Programme<\/strong><br \/>\nBefore applying for the Department of Social Development&#8217;s scholarship programme, it is best for applicants to study the Student Guide provided on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dsd.gov.za\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">the official website<\/a>, as this guide encompasses all about the scholarships. Applicants can also obtain the scholarship&#8217;s application form there, which consists of the form itself and the instructions to fill in the form that needs to be obeyed.<\/p><!--CusAdsVi2-->\n<p>This Department of Social Development&#8217;s scholarship&#8217;s application form that can also be obtained in various universities&#8217; Department of Social Work or the Department of Social Development&#8217;s Provincial Departments must be completed along with all supporting documents as noted on above&#8217;s points.<\/p>\n<p>Applicants should ensure the completeness of their application packages, as the Department of Social Development won&#8217;t consider incomplete applications. Those of the already completed application package should be delivered to the Provincial Department of Social Development at the end of October each year.<\/p>\n<p>After submitting their scholarship application packages, applicants should wait for their outcomes in a few days from the date of their scholarship application&#8217;s submissions. This is due to the Department of Social Development&#8217;s nature that limits communication and feedbacks to shortlisted applicants.<\/p>\n<p>Before the Department of Social Development can send the scholarship contract to shortlisted applicants, shortlisted applicants should notify by written means to the Provincial Department whether they&#8217;d like to receive the scholarship or not since 14 days of their appointments. They should write their responses on the given space at their notepaper and return them along with their previous completed application packages to the Department of Social Development.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Opening and Closing Dates of the Department of Social Development&#8217;s Scholarship Programme on 2020<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Department of Social Development&#8217;s scholarship programme usually opens at the mid-year.
