SAIEE, which is short for the South African Institute of Electrical Engineers, is a prestigious association consisting of some of the nation’s best professionals in the field of electrical engineering. The South African Institute of Electrical Engineers (SAIEE) is offering bursary programmes for incredibly talents and well-deserving undergraduate students. The SAIEE Bursaries is aimed to provide financial assistance for students pursuing any form of educational qualifications (e.g. degree, certificate, diploma) in any University of University of Technology of the candidates’ choice. Targeted mainly towards South African youths, the SAIEE Bursaries will be allocated towards students who are specializing in the fields of Electrical, Electronics, and Computer Engineering. SAIEE (South African Institute of Electrical Engineers) Bursary Requirements
Before you can start on the application procedure, all interested candidates must oblige by the requirements that have been standardized by the bursary committee. The eligibility criteria below will be used by the committee to fully assess the candidates’ potential and to see whether they truly deserve the bursary programme. Therefore, to ensure success during the application procedure, we highly encourage everyone to adhere to the criteria below. Failure to meet all of the requirements published below may sabotage your chances of getting accepted by the committee.

The SAIEE Bursary Requirements are as listed below:

  • Candidates must currently be pursuing their undergraduate degrees
  • Recognized as an official national of South Africa
  • Must have finished your Grade 12 certification with at least a “C” score for the key subjects of Physical Science, Mathematics, and English
  • Or, candidates must have passed their previous examinations with an average aggregate score of at least 60% for each of their subjects.

Once you have the Application Form in your hands, answer all of the questions and fill up any inquiries with accurate personal information. Candidates discovered to be providing false information will not be taken into consideration for the rest of the application procedure. Similarly, applicants who have submitted any incomplete application forms will not be acknowledged by the committee as well.

After having your applications forms completed, candidates will also be required to have these listed documents attached:

  • A full statement issued by either their parent or guardian, which is then legalized by the Commissioner of Oath
  • Have the statements printed out fully in blank ink
  • Valid proof of their parents’ or guardian’s household income
  • A letter of motivation explaining why you deserve this bursary in your very own handwriting
  • A valid copy of your Grade 12 Qualifications, or a valid results slips of your final year examinations (before 14 January every year.)

Once your application dossier is all complete, you can immediately send them in through Postal Carriage at this following address: The Secretary, SAIEE, P.O. Box 751253, Gardenview, 2047. All applications are to be submitted every 30 September of each year. Any late applications sent past the closing date will automatically be disregarded by the committee. Announcements will only be made to successful grantees of the bursary programme by the very latest the end of January. If you have not heard any news from the committee by then, we regret to inform you that you have not been chosen this time for the programme.
