BANKSETA Profile
BANKSETA, which is short for the Banking Sector Education and Training Authority, is an establishment that was formed directly as per according to the Skills Development Act of 1998, which is then amended by the Skill Development Act 26 of 2011. This establishment was formed as a means for existing domestic stakeholders to promote the banking sector in the country and to have them move forward on both a national and international scale. On top of that, BANKSETA also aims to empower fellow black individuals by applying a sense of black economic empowerment, and to constantly promote employment equity in the establishment. By doing this, it is hoped that their working staff are even more motivated to achieve in their careers under BANKSETA.

About BANKSETA Bursaries 2020-2021
The Association of Accounting Technicians (SA), in partnership with BANKSETA, are offering full-time bursaries for students in selected tertiary institutions. These bursaries will be mainly allocated to students who are pursuing their studies at Lovedale FET in King Williams Town/East London, and North Urban Cape FET in Kimberly. All bursaries will be provided on the basis whether students are able to fulfill the eligibility criteria and their academic merits.

The BANKSETA Bursaries provides coverage for students in order to advance in their studies without any financial burdens. The funds will be used to cover tuition expenses, prescribed study materials, and on or off-campus accommodation. This will all be arranged directly with their respective Universities. On top of that, the bursaries are provided to students who are pursuing any of these scarce skills courses below:

  • Bachelor of Commerce (IT)
  • Actuarial Science (Accounting)
  • Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting)
  • Bachelor of Science (IT)
  • Bachelor of Commerce (Finance, Economics, Financial Markets or Financial Modelling streams)

BANKSETA Bursary Requirements
To apply for the BANKSETA Bursary, there are a couple of requirements that must be met by all candidates. Each of these items below will determine whether you are accepted by the programme or not. Failure to meet all of these criteria may result in direct failure with your applications. Therefore, it is highly important that you have all these things met before you apply.

The BANKSETA Bursary Requirements are as follows:

  • Holds an NQF Level 4 Accounting Qualification
  • Must currently not be employed by an establishment
  • Below the age of 30 years old at the moment
  • Has achieved either an A, B, or C symbol for the key subjects of Accounting and Pure Maths.
