The Shoprite Bursary started off with the intention of providing the necessary financial support for potential students as a means to pursue their studies. This bursary schemes is eligible for students who are either in their 1st-3rd year or are pursuing an Honours education. Upon graduation from their current studies, these bursary awardees will be given the chance to work under the Shoprite environment alongside with some of the most professional Logistics and Supply Chain specialists.
At the moment, the Shoprite Bursary has provided financial support for approximately a total of 250 students. To simply put this into currency, Shoprite has invested a total amount of ZAR 16 million into uplifting potential students. The sum of money put into this initiative may be intimidating. However, just by looking at the current situation of national unemployment (a 58% rate of unemployment in South Africa), it becomes apparent that the only way to contribute to the situation is by investing money into finding solutions. Shoprite Group Bursary Requirements
Since the Shoprite Group Bursary is a relatively inclusive programme, there are not much requirements that are asked of the bursary committee. In order to be considered eligible for the bursary scheme, applicants must hold at least a Grade 12 qualification with an average score of 70% for all of their subjects. Therefore, it is important that all applicants have valid proof of maintaining impressive academic scores throughout their entire study career.
