The bursary programme is only offered to full-time students who are attaining their education in a recognized South African university. Typically, the programme caters to students who are interested in the fields of Economics, Information Technology, Finance, Actuarial Sciences, Law, Mathematical Statistics, and Accounting. Opportunities will be mainly allocated to students who are currently in the first year of their studies. Once granted, their bursaries will be reviewed by the committee on a yearly basis, so there is no need for manual renewal.

Upon completion of the bursary programme, the Bank also provides a guarantee for their grantees to participate in fully-funded vacation work activities. Since the vacation work in an obligatory part of the programme, all candidates must take part in it in order to maintain their bursary. Additionally, grantees must also work for the Bank upon graduation from university. Should they refuse to carry out their post-bursary responsibilities, grantees must repay the full cost of the bursary scheme to the programme. Reserve Bank Bursary Requirements
The Reserve Bank Bursary extends its arms to anyone who is interested in the field. However, in order to be eligible for the bursary programme, all candidates must be able to meet the qualifications that are determined by the bursary committee. This bursary is only searching for individuals who truly deserve the financial assistance as a means to continue their studies. The Reserve Bank Bursary Requirements are as follows:

  • Must acquire at least 70% scores for the June Matric examinations or Grade 12 examinations
  • Must be qualified for enrollment in a recognized South African University
  • Must have proof of South African nationality
  • Is below the age of 30
  • Is currently experiencing personal financial struggles.

How to Apply Reserve Bank Bursary 2020
Before beginning on your applications, all candidates must first visit the Reserve Bank Bursary Registration Website to check the availability status of the bursary programme. To apply for the Reserve Bank Bursary, be sure to download the Official Bursary Application Form to start off. Once you have the application form on file, fill it out with only correct and accurate information. Additionally, make sure that every question in the form is completed – incomplete applications will not be regarded by the bursary programme.

After your application form is all set, it is time to attach necessary documents into your dossier. These necessary documents include:

  • A valid letter of acceptance in to a recognized university
  • A valid copy of your valid South African Identity Document
  • A valid copy of your most recent Matric result slips
  • A letter of motivation not more than 250 words.

Submission must be done on every 30 September on each year. After being shorlisted after the administrative phase, selected candidates will be subject to an interview held by the committee. Once you have been successfully accepted by the bursary programme, you will be subject to an agreement with the establishment and you will have to keep reporting your academic progress but constantly submitting your examination results way before December 31st of each year.
