Armscor Profile
Armscor is an establishment that is formed to serve the South African Department of Defence as an acquisition agency. Providing their services in product upgrading, technology development, equipment disposal, and product development and support, Armscor makes use of their high quality facilities to ensure that they provide services that are in with the times of technology advancement. Furthermore, even though Armscor is founded on local grounds, the agency still follows international standards to make sure that they fulfill the qualifications that comes along with most of their projects.
About Armscor Bursaries 2020-2021
Armscor is providing a limited number of bursaries to first-third year university students who are either pursuing their undergraduate or postgraduate studies (Honours, B-Tech, Masters, or Doctoral). Specially given out to students who are based in South Africa, the bursary is provided to students who are studying in any accredited public university, or even university of technology. To be able to partake in this bursary, candidates must obtain wondrous Grade 12 results in the key subjects of Mathematics (Level 5), Science (Level 6), and English (Level 7.)

- Aeronautical Engineering
- Industrial Engineering
- Human Kinetics & Ergonomics Sciences
- Electronics/Electrical (Light current) Engineering
- Mechatronics Engineering
- Computer Science
- Naval/Marine Engineering
- Chemistry and Physics
- Metallurgy Engineering
- Material Sciences
- Chemical Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
Selected recipients of the Armscor Bursary Programme will be entitled to a generous sum of financial funding that will can be used to provide coverage for these following items:
- Tuition expenses
- Accommodation and daily meals
- Prescribed study materials
- Direct mentorship and supervision
- Obligatory vacation work
- Psychosocial services (counselling)
- For postgraduate bursary recipients – funding may be utilized to participate in local academic events, such as conferences, laboratory visits, or workshops.
The application for postgraduate bursaries are available every year during any period of the academic year. However, availability is subject to the year’s current budget.
Armscor Bursary Requirements
To apply for the Armscor Bursary, all candidates must be able to fulfill the eligibility criteria that has been standardized by the programme. The reason for this is to make sure that everyone that is taking part of the bursary is qualified enough and meets the standards of the bursary. Therefore, to ensure that you have some form of guaranteed success, it is highly advisable that you meet any one of these requirements below.
The Armscor Bursary Requirements are:
- Must be passionate about pursuing a career in the South African Defence Industry
- Must have obtained wondrous results in the key subjects of English, Mathematics, and Science
- Currently has plans or is already enrolled in any accredited public University in South Africa
- Officially recognized as a citizen of South Africa.
How to Apply Armscor Bursary 2020-2021
Candidates interested in applying for the Armscor Bursary must first check out the availability status of the programme by accessing the Official Armscor Website. After you have made sure that the programme is currently up for grabs, you may proceed to download the application form. Now, please take note that there are two types of applications forms: the Undergraduate Application Form, and the Postgraduate Application Form. Please download the one that suits you. Once you have obtained your application form, please have it filled it with accurate information. Furthermore, all questions must be filled in. Incomplete application forms will automatically be disregarded by the committee. On top of that, applicants will need to have several documents attached, such as your most recent Curriculum Vitae, your Matric results slip, as well as a full academic transcript.
