W&RSETA (Wholesale and Retail SETA) Profile
The Wholesale and Retail Sector Education and Training Authority, also known as W&RSETA, is an establishment that was founded on the basis of the Skills Development Act. As a SETA, which is started by the nation’s Department of Higher Education and Training, the establishment is well-known is providing upmost skills education to local youths. Having begun its operations in the year 2002, the public establishment was founded on the basis of providing a list of skill development programmes that are within the Wholesale and Retail department. This is done through a series of initiatives by the establishment, such as implementing learning sessions offering grants, and managing/monitoring educational training sessions and programmes. Everything that has been conducted by the establishment is all in line with the National Skills Development Strategy (NSDS).

About W&RSETA (Wholesale and Retail SETA) Bursaries 2020-2021
The Wholesale and Retail SETA (W&RSETA) is providing multiple bursaries to students who are tertiary institutions based in South Africa. Specifically allocated for students who have been admitted into Public Higher Education Institutions, or TVET Colleges, the W&RSETA Bursaries is conducted as a means to offer financial assistance towards local students who display wonderful academic potential and talents. Furthermore, the bursary is intended for students who are pursuing any degree of diploma in a University, or a NATED/NCV in TVET College. Students who are applied at these programmes below may stand a chance to sign up for the bursary:

HETI (University) DEGREE / DIPLOMA National Accredited Technical Education Diploma (NATED) PROGRAMMES (TVET) – N4 TO N6:

W&RSETA (Wholesale and Retail SETA) Bursary Requirements
Applicants who wish to have the W&RSETA Bursary a change must be able to meet the qualifications that have been standardized by the programme. The purpose behind this list of eligibility criteria is to make sure that all accepted candidates truly meet the vision and missions that is in line with the bursary. Therefore, to ensure possible success, it is highly advisable for all applicants to have all of these qualifications met. At the moment, the bursary is open for 1500 Unemployed TVET students, as well as 1000 new Unemployed HET students.

The W&RSETA Bursary Requirements are as follows:

  • Already accepted or registered into either a University, University of Technology, or TVET College
  • Has taken into account of the expenses that will be covered by the bursary, which includes:
    • Registration fees
    • Tuition costs
    • Prescribed study materials
    • Allocated accommodation
    • Meals
  • The maximum amount of the bursary is ZAR 65 000 for HET students, and ZAR 45 000 for TVET Colleges students – all granted on a yearly basis
  • Must be a full-time student in an accredited public South African University or TVET College
  • Officially recognized as a citizen of South Afirca
  • Has been registered to pursue their education in the institution of their choice
  • All qualifications must not go above 4 years
  • Candidates will only be funded during the stipulated duration that have been agreed upon during their studies
  • Candidates will not be given funding for subjects that they di not pass
  • Must not have participated in the W&RSETA Bursary beforehand
  • Is not involved in another external agreement with another bursary programme.

How to Apply W&RSETA (Wholesale and Retail SETA) Bursary 2020-2021
Interested in applying from the W&RSETA Bursary? It’s time to get a head start with your applications! First off, all candidates must pay attention to the bursary guidelines, which have been made available on the Official Application Form. After downloading the application form, be sure to fill it in with only complete and accurate information. Candidates discovered to be falsifying their application forms or not providing complete information will immediately have their applications revoked from the procedure.

Furthermore, all incoming candidates are to have several documents attached to their application forms. These important documents include:

  • Your most recent Curriculum Vitae, complete with contact information
  • A valid copy of your Matric qualification (or anything equivalent to that)
  • A valid ltter of acceptance into an accredited University
  • For candidates in HETI Programmes, you must have these following education qualifications:
    • Matric Certificate
    • Grade 11 Results
    • NCV Level 4 Certificate
  • For candidates in NATED Programmes at TVET Colleges, you must have these following educational qualifications:
    • Matric Certificate
    • Grade 11 Results
    • NCV Level 4 Certificate
    • N3 Certificate
  • For candidates in NCV Programmes at TVET Colleges, must have the following educational qualification below:
    • Grade 9 Results
  • Able to provide a valid statement of results or complete academic records
  • Valid proof of registration into an institution
  • Valid statement of expenses and fees
  • An official copy of your Identity Document
  • Proof of having accommodation or University/TVET residences
  • Able to provide personal details, employer detail, and proof of income from your respective parents or guardians.

Applications are to be sent in before the deadline. Anything sent after the closing date will not be considered, and will immediately be disregarded by the committee. Announcements will only be made to students who have been accepted by the programme. Should you not hear back from the bursary committee within a total period of 30 days, we regret to inform you that you have not been selected for the programme.
