About FNB (First National Bank) Bursaries 2021-2022
The FNB Fund Bursaries is a programme provided to university students who display an impressive academic track record and requires necessary financial support. This bursary scheme only provides financial funding that will aid them in their pursuit of education. Additionally, all interested candidates are highly encouraged to register for a study loan in their respective universities as well, typically the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS). This way, applicants are able to secure themselves financially despite the shortfall from their partial bursary.

FNB (First National Bank) Bursary Requirements
The FNB Bursary is available for individuals who are attaining their education in the aforementioned courses stated previously. However, there are other several requirements that must be fulfilled as well. The committee has standardized an eligibility criteria that will determine whether you will be accepted by the bursary scheme or not. Failure to meet all of these items below may result in disqualification from the application procedure.

The FNB Bursary Requirements are as follows:
B Com/ B Business Science:

  • A score of at least 60% in Mathematics
  • A score of at least 60% in English

Engineering:

  • A score of at least 60% in Mathematics
  • A score of at least 60% in English
  • A score of at least 60% in Physical Science

BSc:

  • A score of at least 60% in Mathematics
  • A score of at least 60% in English
  • A score of at least 60% in Physical Science

Other Requirements

  • Candidates must display an impressive academic track record
  • Candidates must prove they require financial assistance
  • Has passed their Matric examinations or NSC
  • May come from different races, genders, or disabilities
  • Priority will be provided to female candidates, individuals from rural communities, underprivileged groups
  • Must be an undergraduate student (exception for students pursuing a Honours in Accounting, where they are qualified for Chartered Accountant.)

How to Apply FNB (First National Bank) Bursary 2021-2022
To apply for the FNB Bursary, applicants will first need to visit the FNB Bursary Study Trust Portal to check the availability status of the bursary scheme. If the bursary scheme is available for applications at the moment, please follow the application instructions below:

  • Directly apply for the FNB Bursary on the Online Application Feature to ensure that your application reaches to the committee way before the closing date
  • If you’d like, you can download the FNB Bursary Application Form instead. After downloading the form, have it completed and send them in PDF format to this e-mail address: [email protected], or fax +27 86 538 1537
  • Should you wish to have an application form forwarded to you instead, you can also send an SMS with the word “STUDY, your name, surname, postal address & postal code” to the number 31022
  • If you’d like to send through Postal Carriage, you may do so to this following address: StudyTrust, Private bag X16, Braamfontein, 2017
  • For Online Applications, please be sure to mention that you will be applying for the FNB Bursary.

Besides the application form itself, all candidates must also have several important documents attached to support their applications. Since the application procedure itself are separated into different stages, candidates will not be asked to send in all of these documents at one go during a certain stage. However, please take into account of what kinds of hard copy documents are required to support your applications:

  • A valid South African Identity Document
  • Academic transcript from Grade 11
  • Your latest results from June
  • Results slips from Matric/NSC examinations if you have finished Grade 12
  • For tertiary students:
    • Valid academic transcript or your June results slip
    • Has at least 60% score for the key subject in Mathematics, Physical Science, and English
  • Two letters of testimonies:
    • First letter must be made by an educational official
    • Second letter must be made by a community leader
  • Valid proof of your parents’ or guardians’ incomes or salary (e.g. payslip)
  • For self-employed candidates: most recent financial statements
  • For candidates with unemployed parents: affidavits
  • A valid copy of your most recent Curriculum Vitae (only for applications in hardcopies)
  • A photograph of your (head and shoulders)
  • A personal essay in Section 7 of your applications.

Applications for the FNB Bursary are open until 30 September. This is applied to all methods of application, whether it’s by e-mail or online portal.
